Women should lift weights. How heavy? how many times a week? How many sets? How many reps? Why do I need to lift weights? Everyone and everybody should lift weights. It is important for so many reasons. One of the many reasons are as we age, and we are all aging, we lose muscle mass and bone density. So lift! Weights provide resistance to your muscles and that provides an increased metabolic demand. So you burn more calories for a longer period of time after you lift then when you just run or do cardio. "I lift light weight because I don't want to get bulking" False!!! Light weights will only provide your body with increased cardiovascular challenge and that is good but not all the time. It is important to pick up heavy weights that maximize your potential to increase muscle tone. And who wants to be toned? So lift!
